Rainy Rhynie!!!!

The weather was unkind to us again this year in Rhynie causing us to cancel Rounds 4 and 5 of the QRS and SACU Championships. Riders will receive a 50% entry fee refund for Round 4 and a 100% refund for Round 5. The 50% retained from Round 4 will go towards the costs incurred to stage the event including the ambulance and track fees.

Please e mail info@quadracingscotland.org to inform us whether you wish the refund to be paid to you by cheque or carried over to future rounds.

We are in the process of checking track availability to arrange the rescheduling of the missed rounds and an announcement will be made on www.quadracingscotland.org as soon as we have confirmation.

We hope you have all dried off from the very soggy weekend we all endured!!!!!

Race Report Ardersier

QRS ROUND 2 REPORT

Sunday 4th May saw a different type of weather and a more technical track for the 2nd round of the SACU and QRS Championships hosted by QRS and sponsored by Macform. With no snow ,wind or rain the pits were full of anticipation to the days racing that lay ahead on the very well prepared track at Ardersier

With more riders entered for round 2 the pits had a lot more action in them than round 1 but a few of the same old problems with riders struggling to get there finally tuned machines to start ahead of the days festivities.

As is the custom the highly charged riders of the 50cc Class got the day of to the perfect start on there very own prepared track at the bottom of the hill. On a track more suited to the little bikes  the was fast and frantic. In the standard class it was Harry Carmichael that won the days honours with three 1st place finishes followed by Thomas Tobin and Aaron Swan in his first race with the big boys.

The 50cc modified class was just as competitive with Ryan McLeish taking wins in the 1st  and 3rd races but a 4th in race 2 saw him lose the top spot on the day too Lawrence Whyte who had two 2nd  and a win too take the overall win on the day. The ever steady Abbey Clark finished 3rd with three 3rd place finishes. Hope lies ahead for William Third who had a 2nd place finish in the 2nd race.

50cc to 100cc open class saw AJ Third take three 1st place finishes to give him top spot for the days racing. Jamie swan took 2nd in race 1 before the gremlins took over and left him 9th in race 2 and a DNF in the final race of the day. Ragan Carmichael who had a DNF in race 1 finished the day with 2 2nd place runs. The girls were not to be out done with Zoe Neill getting a 3rd and 2 6th place finishes and Kirsty Miller with a 6th and 2 5th places showing the boys that consistency works over 3 races. Fasted lap of the day went to AJ Third with a time of 2:31.

100cc geared who raced, along with the auto’s, had there own battle with Alexander Third leading the way with three race wins followed by Laura Nicol and Tayler Gibb.

200cc 2 stroke – 250cc 4 stroke class saw Mark Hadden take race 1 followed by Steven Beagrie and Andy Britton jnr. Race 2 Robert Elliot take the hole shot and lead for 2 laps before falling back into the pack which allowed Conner Smith to take over the lead which he held on to with Hadden chasing hard for a 2nd place. Race 3 saw Hadden take the lead from the off and hold on with Smith on the hunt  until last lap gremlins let Britton jnr in for a 2nd place and Kevin Reed who moved from 5th too finish in 3rd place. Fasted lap of the day went to Mark Hadden with the time of 2:14.

Adult Support saw a shock to many as it was big Iain Clark who showed the young ones how to get of the line with his whole shot in race 1 although by the end of the lap he had dropped back to 4th place still not bad for an over 40. James Third took over the lead only to be passed by Mark Wilson who went on to take the win with Third in 2nd place and Aaron Stuart taking 3rd place by 6secs from David Sheilds. Race 2 saw another shock as this time it was David Brown who took the hole shot and stayed in 1st place for 4 laps before being passed by Wilson who went on to claim his second win of the day from the much improved Brown who was closely followed by Scott Robertson only 3secs behind. Race 3 again had Wilson and Brown doing battle for 4 laps until Scott Robertson thought he would like to get more involved and snuck in for the win on the win on the last lap to pip Brown into second spot with David Sheilds in 3rd. Fasted lap of the day went to inform Brown with a time of 2:14.

The crazy gang of over 40’s again showed that they were not to be out done by all the nipper snappers that had raced before them. Race 1 Had the more inform James Beattie take an early lead followed by Andy Britton only for Britton to get passed after 4 laps and open up a 8sec gap to secure the win over Beattie with Neill and Graham steady as ever in 3rd and 4th respectively. Race 2 had no changes from start to finish with Britton taking the win from Beattie and Neill coming over the line in 3rd. Race 3 had a few shake ups with Neill taking an early lead from form Beattie and Britton only for normal service to resume after 4 laps with Britton taking the win followed by Beattie then the tiring Neill. William Hill and John Fleming also put on a show or they could have been towing each other round as there was less than 1/2sec between there times all day, one for the stewards to check up on I think. Fasted lap of the day again went to Andy Britton with a time of 2:06 not bad for an old guy.

The Championship with Morrison and Beda back form British duties got under way with Beda taking the hole shot in race 1 and pulling away from the rest of the pack which finished with Albert Smith 2nd and Mike Dunlevy in 3rd place. Race 2 again had Beda out front with the pack chasing Smith tried then Dunlevy but it was Richard Telford who got 2nd place followed by Scott Mcmillan in 3rd. Race 3 again went with Beda leading from start to finish leaving it up to the rest chasing 2nd place. McMillan and Dunlevy fought hard before McMillan won through for 2nd place and Telford getting through for a fighting 3rd place. Fastest lap of the day went to Leon Beda with a time of 2:00.

To finish all the riders would like to thank all the marshal’s who gave up there time so that they were able to have a fun days racing. To the team who prepared the track a job well done and the changes made from last year seemed to work well from a watching point of view.

Don’t Forget Round 3 on 25th May at DRUMCLOG get entries in early? And don’t forget motor sport can be dangerous, be good ride safe. (777)
